Day 7: first some work, then relax

May 11, second vocational day.
Some meaningful (or not that much) images from the different places we went to.

Then, at night, some views of a peaceful evening together:

De ja vu

Being in IT means night is not meant to sleep...
May 10, about 7 pm.
Some pictures taken from our presentation at the Abbotsford-Matsqui Rotary club. Thank you for being awake all of that time, we know it took some real effort!

P.S. As you can see, we are back to blogging again: we sure hope that you did not think, this was never going to be completed...

Holy cow!

May 10. Very early in the morning, two members of the team visit probably the most suitable education institution for them, given their mental age: kindergarten.

The program proceeds with a very original combination of different visits, starting
with a visit to the Sikh temple:

Next stop of this curious multicultural path is in a berry farm, followed by another farm and a christian abbey.

Last stop really deserves a specific section, since it was a really peculiar experience, the one we had at the Stó:lō First Nations' reserve, near Mission.

Hat tricks

Laundry time!

Either our friend has gotten taller or canadian driers are a bit too powerful!

New club, new friends, new homes

May 9, afternoon.
The GSE team (and its huge carry-on luggage) arrives at the meeting point in Abbotsford.
First look at the local City Hall...

..then the city faces the real danger: new fire rescue team!

Look at the fire chief!

Day 5: First separations

After the debut of Paolo's presentation, we have to say bye to our families from Langley. It is the sad law of the GSE experience: whenever you get used to somebody, it is time to meet someone else.

Some photos from the goodbye stage:

The mountain, the snow and the surprise meeting

The first change to the program takes our team to Vancouver, Grouse Mountain.

Take six italian people, with just three jackets to share, and a couple of canadian women with surprisingly good aim, and you're in for a good snowball fight.

But the main surprise still has to come: at the restaurant, the italian team understands not to be alone, meeting the turkish GSE team.

To the city hall, crew!

May 8. The visit to the municipal hall earns the team, its first appearance on the local newspaper, as well as a meeting with the Mayor.

Being a team means...

...being able to look in the same direction, sharing a common goal…

Oh, well!

Day 3: Time to work

May 7, first vocational day. No kidding, working is for real: everyone looks at how their own profession looks like in Canada. No time for pictures, then, except for one member of the team. Guess who?

Day 2: GSE team meets its new home

First lunch together

A view of the outside of the restaurant

After meeting the host families, the first reunion is at Linda's wonderful place, for a pleasant barbecue:
